Bromsgrove is a co-educational boarding and day school for 1120 pupils. 695 of these are in the Upper School (HMC 13-18), 425 in the Lower School (IAPS 7-13) which is on an adjacent site but makes use of many of the facilities of the Upper School. Dating from the Middle Ages, and as one of the founding Schools of the Headmaster's Conference in 1869, the School values its tradition but looks strongly to the future.
There is a Tutorial based system of Pastoral Care throughout the School. The รบ2.5m Library and Resources Centre, opened in May 1994, is the envy of many educational establishments. The School has a teacher/pupil ratio of one to ten and offers a curriculum based upon, but not restricted by, the demands of the National Curriculum. Our students regularly achieve excellent success at GCSE 'A' level and Oxbridge. (1996: 'A' level pass rate: 94%, 50% A and B grades; GCSE: 96% pass at A-C grade, 40% A* and A grades.)
The Lower School facilities include the Llanwrtyd Centre for Science and Technology, a purpose-built Computer Centre, a splendid New Classroom and Library block and extensions to Dining and Assembly Halls as well as the new sports hall.
The School also boasts excellent sporting and extra-curricular facilities: an indoor swimming pool and Sports Hall in the Upper School as well as a full-size floodlit all-weather surface with a second facility presently under consideration. There has also been investment in a local athletics venue in partnership with the town. Many of our boys and girls have represented County, Divisional or National teams.
A full programme of Art, the Performing Arts and Outdoor Pursuits, all pursued to the highest level, is an essential part of the life of the School, as is a strong Combined Cadet Force. Combined with courses in the Sixth Form, one of the benefits of this programme is the excellent leadership training which it provides.
There is local access to the national motorway network with Birmingham International Airport and rail link are only thirty minutes away. It takes less than forty-five minutes to reach Worcester, Stratford or Warwick; Oxford is an hour away and London less than two.
At Bromsgrove we provide a working environment which enriches each individual's quality of life; we have a vision for the future based upon the firm foundations of the past. Bromsgrove aims to provide an education which is broad, balanced, rigorous and relevant, producing well rounded pupils who have the confidence, skills and attributes for a fulfilled life.
